A Better Way to Build a Home in Asheville

Blending craftsmanship with a thoughtful design-build process

Who We Are

Kaizen Homes is a design-build firm based in Asheville, North Carolina, specializing in custom homes and major renovations for clients who want quality, clarity, and a personal connection throughout the process. We work primarily with retired and relocating homeowners who are ready to invest in a home that reflects their values, lifestyle, and long-term needs. Whether we’re building a home from the ground up or reimagining an older property, we bring local knowledge and honest communication to every project.

Personalized, Grounded Process

We guide each client through a well-defined design and construction experience that removes the stress and keeps decision-making clear. You’ll work directly with our team at every step, from the first call to the final walkthrough.

Deep Local Roots and Experience

We know Asheville’s terrain, neighborhoods, and permitting requirements inside and out. From building on steep mountain lots to navigating design guidelines in private communities, we bring the insights that come from living and building here.

A Team Built
on Communication

Kaizen Homes is led by husband-and-wife team Jonathan and Abby Landry. With Jonathan in the field and Abby leading operations and client care, we keep our projects tight, intentional, and aligned with your goals from day one.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Guided by the Japanese philosophy of “Kaizen,” meaning continuous improvement, we dedicate ourselves to perfection in every detail. This principle drives our relentless pursuit of excellence, ensuring that each home we create is a masterpiece of design and functionality. From the initial concept to the final touches, our process is marked by meticulous attention to detail, innovative design solutions, and superior craftsmanship.

Meet Jonathan Landry

President

Jonathan Landry brings a builder’s mindset, a craftsman’s eye, and a deep commitment to doing things the right way. After earning his North Carolina General Contractor’s license, he spent six years building homes under JL Builders before launching Kaizen Homes in 2018. Today, he leads every project with a focus on excellence, efficiency, and clear communication. He is an Accredited Builder, Certified Graduate Builder, and Certified Green Professional through the National Association of Home Builders.

With more than 20 custom builds and major renovations completed across the Asheville area, Jonathan has developed a reputation for managing complex projects with precision and care. He’s hands-on throughout the process—especially when it comes to technical design, site strategy, and finish selections—and is deeply invested in making sure every home functions beautifully for the people who live in it.

Outside the job site, Jonathan is a dedicated mountain biker and an outdoors enthusiast. He and his wife, Abby, share a passion for outdoor living, community involvement, and leaving things better than they found them.

Meet Abby Landry

Chief Operating Officer

Abby is the friendly voice and steady presence behind the scenes at Kaizen Homes —and chances are, she’s one of the first people you’ll talk to when you start your home building journey. Born and raised in Western North Carolina, Abby has a deep love for these mountains and the people who call them home. She’s passionate about helping others build a life here, one thoughtful, beautiful home at a time.

Abby comes from a long line of skilled builders in Haywood County. Her dad, Jim, taught her husband, Jonathan, the trade, and now the two of them are proud to continue the legacy together through Kaizen Homes.

Before joining the family business full-time, Abby worked in health and wellness programming—helping seniors thrive and stay connected. That same caring spirit and attention to detail is now part of every Kaizen project.

When she’s not working with clients or on the jobsite, you’ll likely find Abby outside—soaking in the beauty of these mountains with family, friends, or a good trail underfoot.

Meet Oni Landry

Chief Barkitect

Oni is the heart of every Kaizen Homes job site. With a keen nose for detail and an eye for quality, Oni makes regular rounds to ensure everything is up to standard. Their calm presence keeps the crew grounded, while their bursts of excitement lift spirits on long build days.

Oni wants clients to feel at ease when visiting their homes-in-progress and is always ready with a wag and a watchful gaze. Favorite parts of the job include greeting trade partners, inspecting freshly poured foundations, and finding the perfect sunny spot to nap while work carries on.
