A Historic Downtown with Plenty to Offer

Founded in 1838 and named after Chief Justice Leonard Henderson, Hendersonville has a rich history rooted in agriculture and apple orchards. The arrival of the railroad in the late 1800s brought growth and helped shape its thriving downtown. Pedestrian-friendly streets, beautifully preserved architecture, and local boutiques, restaurants, and galleries draw people in. The historic charm of the area makes it perfect for a casual stroll. It’s also an ideal spot for a weekend outing.

Hendersonville sits at roughly 2,100 feet of elevation in Henderson County, and that altitude does a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to the climate here. Summers stay warm and comfortable — highs typically land in the mid-80s with noticeably lower humidity than you'll find just a few hours south. Winters are mild but real, with January lows in the mid-20s and the occasional dusting of snow or ice along the higher ridges. Spring and fall stretch out long and easy, which is one of the reasons so many of our clients building in Henderson County prioritize covered porches, screened outdoor rooms, and thoughtful site orientation in their custom home plans. Average annual rainfall runs around 50 inches, spread fairly evenly across the seasons — worth keeping in mind for drainage, grading, and the kind of site work that makes a mountain home last.
